Gumroad handles sales tax collection and remittance worldwide as the merchant of record.
What can creators sell on Gumroad?
You can sell digital products such as ebooks, courses, music, software, design assets, memberships, and more. Every product is sold by the individual creator through their Gumroad storefront.
Do I need to code to publish and start selling?
No coding is required. Creators can publish their products with their storefront and share product links so customers can buy directly.
How do creator storefronts and product links work on Gumroad?
Each creator has a storefront on their own subdomain (for example, https://{username}.gumroad.com), and each product has a canonical short URL for sharing (https://gumroad.com/l/{permalink}). Gumroad also provides Wishlists under the creator’s storefront and a Discover area for browsing and search.
How does Gumroad’s Discover marketplace affect fees?
Sales made through a creator’s own profile or direct links are charged 10% + $0.50 per transaction. If a new customer finds the product through Discover, the fee is 30% per transaction.
What payment types and currencies are available at checkout?
Gumroad supports one-time payments, recurring payments, and fixed-length payments. Customers can also pay in their own currency during checkout.
Does Gumroad handle sales tax internationally?
Yes. Gumroad is the merchant of record and handles sales tax collection and remittance worldwide, so creators don’t need to manage global tax settings.
